The Ganpati Bappa festival, widely known as Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi, is one of India's most vibrant and revered celebrations. It marks the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings, and the remover of obstacles (Vighnaharta).
Prana Pratishtha: The festival begins with the installation of clay idols of Lord Ganesha in homes and public pandals, accompanied by sacred hymns and mantras to invoke the deity's spirit.
Daily Worship (Puja): Offerings of Modak (beloved sweet of Ganesha), fresh flowers, red sandalwood paste, and Durva grass are made daily through morning and evening aartis.
Anant Chaturdashi (Visarjan): The festival concludes on the tenth day with the grand immersion (Visarjan) procession of idols into water bodies, symbolizing Ganesha's return to Mount Kailash.
